Mumbai, Aug. 30 -- Samajwadi Party MLA Rais Shaikh has sought an inquiry into the alleged delay in procurement of X-ray machines for the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation-run Sion and Cooper hospitals and demanded that responsibility be fixed for the nearly two-year delay.

In a letter to BMC Commissioner Ashwini Bhide, Shaikh said the absence of the vital diagnostic equipment was causing hardship to patients, particularly those requiring emergency and trauma care, and forcing them to approach private facilities at considerable expense.
