Pune, Aug. 31 -- Taking a serious note of the devastating flash flood in Nepal that has severely disrupted normal life, leaving lakhs of people homeless and hundreds of children orphan, the Sarhad Foundation has contacted well-wishers in Nepal as well as the Indian Embassy and initiated preliminary discussions regarding relief and assistance efforts.
The city-based organisation has decided to stand with the flood-affected people of Nepal on behalf of Maharashtra during this hour of crisis.
The foundation is also considering sending a delegation to Nepal to assess the situation on the ground, identify immediate requirements and determine the nature and direction of relief efforts.
