Pune, May 29 -- Amid growing anger over the toxic liquor tragedy incident, NCP (SP) MLA Rohit Pawar personally visited the illegal liquor den linked to the tragedy today and reportedly smashed the counter along with workers of the Nationalist Congress Party (Sharadchandra Pawar).
The group also removed tin sheets and damaged parts of the structure in protest.
Later, speaking to reporters, Rohit Pawar alleged that the administration and police had failed to act despite repeated incidents involving illegal liquor sales. He said when the system fails to protect ordinary citizens, people are forced to take matters into their own hands.
He further claimed that poor people are dying due to spurious liquor while authorities remain inactive.
