Mumbai, May 12 -- Amid rising tensions in the Gulf region and concerns over fuel shortages, Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS) president Raj Thackeray has strongly questioned Prime Minister Narendra Modi over his recent appeal asking citizens to adopt austerity measures.
The appeal came after disruptions in oil supplies due to the blockade around the Strait of Hormuz involving Iran and the United States, which has reportedly impacted imports of petrol, diesel and gas.
The Prime Minister has urged people to reduce fuel consumption, avoid unnecessary foreign travel, use public transport and cut down on gold purchases to reduce pressure on foreign exchange reserves.
