Mumbai, Sept. 22 -- The investigation into the death of a second-year B.Tech student at IIT Bombay has been transferred to the Mumbai Crime Branch after his parents alleged caste-based harassment and abetment to suicide.
The deceased, identified as Sahil Ravindra Wakode, 20, a student of Energy Science and Engineering department from Yavatmal, was found dead in his hostel room on Friday evening, September 19.
According to police, Powai police have registered an FIR for abetment to suicide and invoked provisions of the Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes (Prevention of Atrocities) Act on a complaint filed by his parents, Ravindra Wakode and Sonali Wakode.
