Mumbai, June 11 -- Shiv Sena leader and Deputy Chairperson of the Maharashtra Legislative Council, Dr. Neelam Gorhe, today instructed the National Cooperative Consumers' Federation (NCCF) to immediately operationalize onion procurement centres in Nashik district to prevent losses to onion farmers.
The move comes amid growing dissatisfaction among farmers as onion procurement through NAFED and NCCF has not commenced effectively at several locations despite the central government's recent order authorising NCCF and NAFED to purchase onions directly from farmers.
