Sangli, March 18 -- In a tug of war between Mahayuti and Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA) for the post of Zilla Parishad president that was going on over past few days, the MVA emeged winner today when the candidate of one of its constituents the Nationalist Congress Party (NCP-SP) Sangeeta Patil won by a landslide 34 votes over the rival Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) candidate Swapnali Masal (24 votes) due to a 'correct programme' engineered by former Maharashtra minister and the party MLA Jayant Patil.

While Rishikesh Lad (Congress-MVA) also won the highly contested election for the post of vice president with 34 votes while his opponent Himmat Jadhav (BJP-alliance) got only 25 votes.
