Nashik, Sept. 10 -- The traditional Bail Pola festival, which has been celebrated for the past 99 years, was observed with great enthusiasm at the Nashik Road Central Jail.
As part of the celebrations, the bulls used for agricultural activities inside the prison premises were bathed and traditionally decorated. Their horns were painted, colourful coverings were placed over their bodies, and bells were tied around their necks. The prisoners also took out a procession of the decorated bulls within the prison premises.
Prison officials and staff, along with the inmates, performed a traditional puja and aarti of the bulls and offered puran poli as "naivedya".
