Nagpur, June 18 -- : The Crime Branch of Nagpur Police has busted an alleged counterfeit currency racket in which fake notes were being circulated alongside genuine currency to avoid detection, officials said on Thursday.
Acting on a tip-off, the Crime Branch conducted a raid on Wednesday night and apprehended persons allegedly involved in the racket.
During the operation, police seized counterfeit currency notes, genuine cash, mobile phones and other incriminating material from the accused.
Preliminary investigation revealed that the accused used a modus operandi of mixing fake notes with genuine currency while carrying out transactions, making it difficult for recipients to immediately identify the counterfeit notes.
