Mumbai, July 10 -- Senior BJP MLA and former minister, Sudhir Mungantiwar, today expressed deep indignation in the Maharashtra Assembly on his own party over the continued delay in forwarding a state government resolution to the Centre for conferring the 'Bharat Ratna' upon Swatantrya Veer Vinayak Damodar Savarkar.

Raising the issue in the lower House, he voiced his frustration over what he termed as "bureaucratic apathy", noting that despite a commitment made by the government during the March 5 session, the official proposal remains pending.

"Regrettably, a file concerning the honour of Veer Savarkar-a national icon whose ideology we are committed to-is being 'suppressed' within our own government," Mungantiwar stated.
