Chandrapur, May 24 -- The Forest Department has captured the tigress responsible for killing four women who had gone to collect tendu leaves in the Gunjewahi forest area of Sindewahi taluka in Maharashtra's Chandrapur district, officials said on Sunday.
The tigress, identified as "T-2", an around 14-year-old adult female, was tranquillised near Pawanpar lake on Saturday night following an extensive search operation launched after the fatal attacks that triggered panic across the region.
According to forest officials, the tigress was captured between 8 pm and 9 pm after a special team laid a trap and used a dart gun to tranquillise the animal.
She was later shifted to Gorewada Rescue Centre in Nagpur for further examination.
