Kolhapur, Nov. 1 -- A full-grown leopard was killed on the sport after being hit by a speeding unknown vehicle at Tural in Sangameshwar tehsil of Ratnagiri district today.
According to officials in Forest department, the leopard was crossing the highway from the forest area in search of prey or to change its habitat early this morning, when it was struck by an unknown vehicle traveling at high speed on the highway. The impact was so severe that the leopard was seriously injured and died on the spot. After the incident, the driver of the vehicle fled from the spot.
