Mumbai, Aug. 29 -- In a major political and administrative breakthrough, the Maharashtra government has agreed to all major demands raised by tribal student organizations following a high-level meeting chaired by Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis. Tribal Development Minister Ashok Uike announced the development, urging agitating students across Pune, Nagpur, and Nashik to call off their ongoing hunger strikes and return to their academics.
The breakthrough comes in the wake of prolonged protests, most notably a 16-to-17-day-long agitation by tribal students in Pune's Manjari area, where health concerns among fasting protesters had ratcheted up pressure on the administration.
