Sangli, Aug. 20 -- Local Crime Branch (LCB) today seized 300 kg ganja (cannabis) from a container lorry at Tanang Phata, on Miraj-Pandharpur highway, near Malgaon of the district and arrested one person in this connection.
A press release issued here said that, on a tip off, an LCB team laid a trap at Tanang Phata and stopped a container lorry on suspicion. During the search of the vehile, police found 300 kg ganja, which was seized along with the vehicle used for transportation collectively worth Rs1,75,10,000.
Police have arrested the driver of the lorry Mangesh Prakash More (46) of Koregaon in Satara district for illegal transportation.
Further investigation is under way, it added.
