Yavatmal, March 15 -- Forest guard Vijay Ramdas Singanjude (47) from Maharashtra's Yavatmal has tragically died while fighting a forest fire apparently due to lack of standard equipment like blower pumps and fire suits.
A massive forest fire broke out around 3 pm on Saturday in the Manpur beat of the Hiwari forest range in Yavatmal district, official sources said.
Forest guard Vijay Singanjude reached the spot with his team. However, due to strong winds and dry leaves, the fire suddenly took a fierce form. Since the required blower pump for extinguishing the fire was not available, they tried to control the flames with the limited tools they had.
