Mumbai, May 20 -- In a significant bureaucratic realignment aimed at cleansing a graft-tainted department, the Government of Maharashtra has appointed senior Indian Administrative Service (IAS) officer Tukaram Mundhe as the new Commissioner of the Food and Drug Administration (FDA).
The high-profile appointment marks the 25th transfer in the 21-year career of the 2005-batch IAS officer, who has long been dubbed as the "Singham" of the state's bureaucracy for his unyielding anti-corruption stance, fierce discipline and strict adherence to rules.
