Mumbai, Aug. 10 -- Filmmaker Shakeel Noorani was arrested by the Malvani Police here following a complaint of rape lodged by a 33-year-old actress, police officials said today.
According to the police, the actress stated in her complaint that she had met Noorani at an award function in 2016. She alleged that he subsequently promised her a role in a film and summoned her to his residence in Malvani on the pretext of a script-reading session.
The complainant alleged that Noorani offered her a drink after which she became incapacitated, and subsequently raped her. She further accused him of sexually harassing her and allegedly threatening her with videos on several occasions.
