Buldhana, Oct. 1 -- In a major crackdown on food adulteration, the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) raided a manufacturing unit in the MIDC area of Khamgaon in Maharashtra's Buldhana district and seized allegedly fake and adulterated edible oil worth around Rs 3.5 crore, officials said today.
The action was carried out under the leadership of Maharashtra FDA Commissioner Tukaram Mundhe at A.M. Oils Private Limited, where officials found that edible oil production was allegedly being carried out without a valid licence and in violation of prescribed food safety standards.
According to FDA officials, the company had been manufacturing and marketing edible oil for a prolonged period despite lacking the necessary authorisations.
