Mumbai, July 11 -- Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Eknath Shinde today launched a sharp attack on the Opposition, accusing it of deliberately spreading falsehoods and criticising the government regardless of its performance.

Addressing reporters here, he further charged that the Opposition believes in the policy of repeating a lie until people believe it. He claimed that the Mahayuti government had consistently worked for the welfare of farmers and that senior leader Sharad Pawar's appreciation of the state's farm loan waiver scheme was a lesson for the Opposition, he remarked in a retort.
