Pune, Sept. 5 -- Despite decades of social progress, untouchability, caste discrimination and social inequalities continue to exist in society, leaving sections of the Dalit community facing discrimination and hardship.
"Dalit literature has played a significant role in bringing these realities to the forefront and continues to be essential for promoting equality, social harmony and human dignity," eminent writers and thinkers said.
The views were expressed during an artists' discussion session held as part of the Urgen Art Festival, organised by Karunadeep Foundation and Triratna Vairochana Centre at Bal Gandharva Rangmandir in Pune.
The discussion mainly focused on Dalit literature, its social relevance and its relationship with art.
