Akola, June 30 -- : The husband of a Congress corporator was allegedly stabbed to death in broad daylight on Tuesday on the Railway Station Road in Maharashtra's Akola district, police said.
The deceased, identified as Yakub Khan, husband of a Congress corporator from Ward No. 17 of the Akola Municipal Corporation, was attacked with a sharp weapon near the new Family Court building.
He sustained grievous injuries and was first taken to the District General Hospital before being shifted to a private hospital, where he succumbed during treatment.
Police said the accused attempted to flee after the attack but was chased and apprehended by personnel from Ramdaspeth police station with the help of local residents.
