Yavatmal, May 31 -- A major fraud racket involving promises of appointments to corporations under the Central Government in exchange for Rs 20.25 crore has been busted in Maharashtra's Yavatmal district, police said today.
The racket came to light after BJP district coordinator Nitin Bhutada conducted a sting operation using a spy camera, leading to the arrest of three accused by the Awadhutwadi police.
According to police, the accused allegedly approached Bhutada claiming that appointments to 42 corporations under the Central Government would soon begin and offered to secure a position in a corporation of choice for Rs 20.25 crore. They allegedly demanded five percent of the amount as a token payment.
