Nagpur, July 29 -- : Two unidentified thieves were caught on CCTV cameras apologising to the deity before breaking open temple donation boxes and fleeing with the cash at two temples in Nagpur's Lakadganj area, police said on Wednesday.
The theft took place at the Sheetla Mata Temple and the adjoining Shiv Temple in the Maldhakka area under the jurisdiction of Lakadganj Police Station.
According to police, temple caretaker Jitendra Pandey had locked the temple on the evening of July 27. When he returned the next morning, he found the main gate lock broken.
On entering the premises, he discovered that the locks of both donation boxes had been broken and the cash kept inside was missing.
