Nagpur, July 31 -- : A 17-year-old aspiring woman cricketer from Nagpur allegedly died by suicide after reportedly becoming distressed over not being selected in the Vidarbha Cricket Association's (VCA) Under-19 team, police said on Friday.
The deceased, identified as Aditi Moreshwar Choukhande, was originally from Akola and had been living with her mother in Nagpur for the past two years while pursuing her cricket career.
The incident came to light at around 5:30 a.m. on Thursday near the Jain temple in Laxmi Nagar under the jurisdiction of Bajaj Nagar Police.
Aditi came under stress after failing to secure a place in the Under-19 team despite an impressive performance in the state-level Under-15 cricket tournament.
