Chandrapur, March 8 -- Environmental activist Bandu Dhotre has begun an indefinite hunger strike demanding that authorities withdraw the permission granted to a proposed iron ore mining project located in a forest corridor linked to the Tadoba-Andhari Tiger Reserve.

The proposed site falls within a forest corridor that connects the tiger reserve with nearby forest areas in the district.

Dhotre has been staging the protest outside the Chandrapur District Collector's office since March 5, drawing support from several environmentalists and wildlife activists.

The protest against the Lohardongri iron ore mining project entered its third day today.
