Pune, June 1 -- A team of doctors at Inamdar Multispeciality Hospital has successfully treated a 78-year-old man who was found to have a giant stone in his common bile duct with an advanced endoscopic procedure, helping him avoid a major surgery.

The patient had abdominal pain, jaundice, fever, nausea, vomiting and loss of appetite. These symptoms are often seen in stomach, liver, gall bladder and bile duct-related illnesses. However, when they occur together, they can point to a blockage in the bile duct, which may become serious if not treated in time, said a release here today.
