Chennai, July 30 -- The Madras High Court on Thursday ordered issuance of notices to the Tamil Nadu Chief Secretary, Assembly Secretary, and the Central Government on a petition challenging the amendments made to the State Assembly resolution against Karnataka's proposed Mekedatu dam project across River Cauvery.
When the petition filed by Opposition AIADMK whip Agri S S Krishnamoorthy, seeking to quash the amendment that suggested called formation of a separate Tribunal to adjudicate the Mekedatu issue, came up for hearing, the First Bench comprising Chief Justice Sushrut Arvind Dharmadhikari and Justice G. Arulmurugan ordered issuance of notices, returnable by two weeks, to the respondents and adjourned the hearing.
