Chennai, Aug. 25 -- The Madras High Court has suo motu impleaded a Central government official in a case pertaining to alleged tender irregularities for road works involving former AIADMK Minister S.P.Velumani and directing the Centre to explain the delay in granting sanction to prosecute two IAS officers.

Velumani is facing corruption charges for an alleged Rs.98.25 crore tender scam in the Greater Chennai and Coimbatore Corporations during his tenure as Municipal Administration Minister between 2014 to 2018.
