Kolkata, July 15 -- Trinamool Congress MLA Madan Mitra announced his resignation from all party posts assigned by Mamata Banerjee and formally joined the camp led by Leader of the Opposition Ritabrata Bandyopadhyay on Wednesday afternoon.

However, the veteran Mamata aide said that he remains within the Trinamool Congress.

The announcement came at the West Bengal Assembly, where Mitra addressed the media seated beside Bandyopadhyay in the latter's chamber.

He also confirmed that he would attend the Ritabrata camp's Martyrs' Day programme on July 21.

"I was in the Trinamool, and I remain in the Trinamool. I have only moved from one room to another," Mitra said.
