New Delhi, July 22 -- India's residential real estate market remained on a growth trajectory during the first half of 2026, with demand increasingly shifting towards premium housing even as affordable home sales continued to weaken.

According to a report by real estate consultancy JLL, housing sales across the country's seven major cities rose 3 per cent year-on-year to 138,382 units during January-June 2026.

Fresh supply also gathered pace, with developers launching 168,507 homes during the period, up 9 per cent from a year earlier, reflecting confidence in sustained buyer demand.

The report highlighted a clear change in buyer preferences, with higher-value homes emerging as the primary driver of the market.
