Mexico City, May 17 -- Brazilian President Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva urged US President Donald Trump to lift Washington's decades-old economic blockade on Cuba during talks at the White House earlier this month, according to a report published by The Washington Post on Sunday.
Lula said Cuba "needs a chance" and called for renewed dialogue between Washington and Havana based on negotiations rather than pressure tactics.
"What I know is if the United States opens a negotiating table, not one based on impositions, Cuba will participate," Lula told the newspaper.
