New Delhi, Aug. 7 -- The Lok Sabha on Friday passed the Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises Development (Amendment) Bill, 2026 by voice vote amid persistent Opposition protests, paving the way for sweeping reforms aimed at strengthening the legal framework governing India's micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs), particularly in addressing delayed payments, improving dispute resolution and enhancing the ease of doing business.
The legislation, moved by union Minister for Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises Jitan Ram Manjhi, seeks to amend the Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises Development Act, 2006, the principal law governing the promotion, development and competitiveness of MSMEs.
