Shimla, March 14 -- Fears of a possible shortage of LPG cylinders in Himachal Pradesh following strict enforcement of the Essential Commodities Act and limits on stock holding have begun affecting small eateries and tea stalls in parts of the state, particularly in the capital Shimla. The uncertainty over supply has simultaneously triggered a sudden spike in the sale of electric induction stoves and other alternative cooking appliances.

In the busy Lakkar Bazar area of Shimla, known for its traditional woodcraft shops and street eateries, at least two tea stalls reportedly shut their operations after running out of LPG. Small food vendors said delays in refilling domestic cylinders have disrupted their daily business.
