Bhubaneswar, July 24 -- A low-pressure area is likely to form over the northwest Bay of Bengal adjoining the West Bengal coast and north coastal Odisha, raising the likelihood of widespread rainfall across Odisha over the next few days, the Centre for Environment and Climate (CEC) of SOA Deemed to be University said on Friday.

In a weather bulletin, the CEC said the system is expected to develop under the influence of a cyclonic circulation currently persisting over coastal West Bengal and the adjoining Bay of Bengal. The system is likely to bring moderate to heavy rainfall across the state, with heavy to very heavy showers expected at isolated places in north and western Odisha between July 25 and 28.
