Bengaluru, May 22 -- Bengaluru's plan to develop a cricket stadium near Anekal has triggered a sharp political and environmental flashpoint, with opposition voices warning that the project could turn into a major human-wildlife conflict zone due to its proximity to an identified elephant corridor.

Karnataka Legislative Council Opposition leader Chalavadi Narayanaswamy objected to the Karnataka Housing Board's move to acquire fertile agricultural land for the stadium project, questioning why a housing agency was being used for sporting infrastructure in the first place.
