Bengaluru, July 11 -- Karnataka Lokayukta has repatriated Superintendent of Police Shivaprakash Devaraju, the IPS officer spearheading several high-profile corruption investigations, to his parent police department just a day after he reportedly sought Governor Thawarchand Gehlot's sanction to prosecute former minister and Congress MLA BZ Zameer Ahmed Khan in a disproportionate assets case.

The timing of the move has sparked political and administrative speculation, although the Lokayukta described the repatriation as a routine administrative decision.
