New Delhi, Aug. 4 -- The Lok Sabha is scheduled to take up two key financial legislations on Tuesday, with union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman set to introduce the Taxation and Other Laws (Amendment) Bill, 2026 and move the Bankers' Books Evidence Bill, 2026 for consideration and passing, as the government presses ahead with reforms aimed at modernising India's tax and banking legal framework.
According to the List of Business of the Lok Sabha, Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman will seek the leave of the House to introduce the Taxation and Other Laws (Amendment) Bill, 2026, a legislation intended to further amend the Payment and Settlement Systems Act, 2007, the Income-tax Act, 2025, and the Finance Act, 2026.
