Thiruvananthapuram, March 11 -- In a delightful addition to the wildlife family at the Thiruvananthapuram zoo in Kerala capital, two lion cubs born to resident lions Leo and Nila have been officially named Simba and Suri.
The cubs, born on January 20, 2026, have captured the hearts of zookeepers, visitors, and wildlife enthusiasts alike. Their health and development have been closely monitored by a dedicated team of experts led by veterinary surgeon Dr. Nikesh Kiran.
From the second day after birth, animal keeper V. Anilkumar devoted himself to round-the-clock care, ensuring the young lions thrived in their critical early weeks.
