Kolkata, May 26 -- A major accident at Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose International Airport on Tuesday afternoon left three maintenance workers critically injured after a lift in the domestic departure terminal reportedly snapped and crashed during repair work, raising serious concerns over safety mechanisms at the airport.

Airport sources said the incident took place around 1 pm involving Lift No. 34, which had been out of service for the past several days owing to maintenance work. Preliminary information suggests that the lift collapsed suddenly while workers were carrying out repairs inside the shaft.

The injured workers were immediately rescued and rushed to a nearby private hospital in critical condition. All three are male. Hospital so...
