Beirut, July 15 -- US President Donald Trump is taking Lebanon's position into account in ongoing talks with Israel, Lebanese President Joseph Aoun told a visiting delegation of Christian lawmakers, according to a statement from his office.
"The framework formula is the best possible and has begun to yield its effects, and Washington has started to listen to us, with the Lebanese file now on the US president's table," Aoun said, according to the readout.
"Our goals are clear, and we will not compromise on matters concerning Lebanon's rights," he added.
Aoun's remarks came as Israeli and Lebanese delegations met for a second day of negotiations in Rome aimed at advancing a framework agreement on southern Lebanon.
