Beirut, March 24 -- Lebanon has withdrawn its accreditation for Iran's ambassador and ordered him to leave the country by March 29, as the regional conflict continues to intensify, with Hezbollah's actions further embroiling Beirut into the broader security crisis engulfing West Asia.

Lebanese Foreign Minister Youssef Raggi said the government had declared designated ambassador Mohammad Reza Shibani persona non grata, with Iran's charge d'affaires having been summoned and formally notified of the decision.

Beirut has also recalled its own ambassador from Tehran for consultations, citing what it described as violations of diplomatic norms by Iran, reports Times of Israel.
