London, July 8 -- Olympic medallist Leander Paes has been appointed Player Ambassador of the Asian Tennis Federation (ATF), the continental governing body announced.
The announcement was made during a ceremony at the sidelines of Wimbledon in London, with Asian Tennis Federation president Yuryi Polskiy, senior officials, players and members of the international tennis community in attendance on Tuesday.
Leander, the only Indian tennis player to win an Olympic medal, will work with the ATFto promote the sport across Asia, mentor emerging players, support grassroots development programmes and represent the federation at major international events.
