Seattle, June 27 -- Egypt booked their place in the FIFA World Cup Round of 32 after battling to a dramatic 1-1 draw against Iran in their final Group G match at Seattle Stadium on Saturday, while Iran were left anxiously awaiting their fate after a stoppage-time winner was ruled out by VAR.
The full-time whistle brought an end to a pulsating contest in which both teams had chances to claim victory. Iran thought they had snatched all three points in the third minute of second-half stoppage time when Shoja Khalilzadeh rifled the ball into the roof of the net after a goalmouth scramble.
