Bengaluru, Aug. 30 -- A pizza metaphor took centre stage at Lalbagh on Sunday as BJP MP Tejasvi Surya led a growing citizen protest against the proposed Tunnel Road project and the State government's move to permit use of up to five per cent of park land for infrastructure and other purposes.

Addressing hundreds of environmentalists, regular walkers, professionals and citizens, Surya said Bengaluru's iconic green spaces could not be divided up and handed over for development projects.

"Lalbagh is not a pizza to be sliced, slice by slice. It is Bengaluru's asset and lifeline," he said.

He said development was necessary for Bengaluru but should not come at the cost of its remaining green spaces.
