Srinagar, Aug. 6 -- In a first for the country, Ladakh is set to launch India's first-ever high-altitude wildlife safari.
Ladakh's Lieutenant Governor Vinai Kumar Saxena on Thursday approved guided safaris along popular snow leopard and bird-watching trails to boost eco-tourism while showcasing the union Territory's unique Himalayan biodiversity.
The LG has directed the Forest Department to introduce guided Jeep Safari on the lines of popular National Parks like Kaziranga, Ranthambore and others, using specially designed open-back vehicles, to be operated by trained local drivers and guides.
