Hassan (Karnataka), July 31 -- union Minister HD Kumaraswamy on Friday criticised the Karnataka government for failing to convincingly present the state's case before the Cauvery Water Management Authority (CWMA), alleging that its inability to effectively highlight the prevailing drought and water scarcity had resulted in the Authority directing the state to release water to Tamil Nadu.
Addressing reporters in Hassan, Kumaraswamy said the state government should have forcefully conveyed that Karnataka was facing a severe rainfall deficit, shrinking reservoir levels and an acute need to conserve water for drinking and irrigation.
