Thiruvananthapuram, Sept. 1 -- Kudumbashree women farmers have recorded a turnover of Rs 10.07 crore from the sale of vegetables and flowers during the Onam season, with more than 33,000 farmer groups marketing 1,580.88 metric tonnes of vegetables and 5,500 groups selling 113.17 metric tonnes of flowers.
The bulk of the revenue-Rs 8.91 crore-came from vegetables marketed under the 'Onakkani' project, while the 'Nirappolima' flower cultivation initiative generated another Rs 1.16 crore. The entire income from the sales will accrue to the farmers.
The sales were recorded through more than 2,000 Onam marketing fairs organised by Kudumbashree across Kerala from August 20 to 25. Thrissur emerged as the top-performing district with a turnover o...
