Hyderabad, July 6 -- Bharat Rashtra Samiti (BRS) Working President K T Rama Rao on Monday sought an extension of the deadline for the Election Commission's Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls, stating that only seven per cent of the forms distributed by Booth Level Officers (BLOs) had been filled and submitted so far.
Reviewing the SIR process with the BRS special committee at Telangana Bhavan, KTR alleged that BLOs had failed to create adequate awareness among voters in several areas and expressed doubts that the remaining 93 per cent of the exercise could be completed by the July 24 deadline. He urged the Election Commission to extend the deadline in view of the ground-level situation.
