Hyderabad, May 27 -- Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) Working President K T Rama Rao (KTR) on Wednesday expressed serious concern over the large-scale damage caused to paddy, maize, and other crops at agricultural market yards and procurement centres across Telangana due to unseasonal rains and gusty winds.
In a statement, KTR said farmers in districts including Karimnagar, Mahabubnagar, and Nalgonda were left devastated after harvested grain spread out for drying was washed away by rains over the past two days.
He alleged that delays in procurement and the government's negligence had pushed farmers into severe distress, with many trying to protect their produce using mobile phone flashlights amid power outages.
