Bengaluru, May 12 -- Wildcard entrant Kriish Tyagi delighted the home spectators with a confident straight-sets victory to storm into the pre-quarterfinals of the Karnataka Open ATP Challenger at the KSLTA Stadium here on Tuesday.
The 19-year-old Bengaluru player, competing on familiar courts where he honed his game, defeated Japanese qualifier Taiyo Yamanaka 6-2, 7-5 in an assured opening-round performance.
India enjoyed a productive day overall as Mukund Sasikumar and Manish Sureshkumar also progressed to the last 16 with convincing wins. Mukund defeated Malaysia's Mitsuki Wei Kang Leong 6-3, 7-6(1), while Manish edged past American qualifier Ronit Karki 6-4, 7-6(7) in a closely fought contest.
